17 January 2006, opening of the exhibition The Continuous Art Class, Novi Sad Neo-Avantgarde of the 1960’s and 1970’s in Gallery Nova, Zagreb. The continuous Art Class exhibition initiated by kuda.org, was transferred to Zagreb with the collaboration of curatorial collective WHW.
The act of bringing The Continuous Art Class exhibition from Novi Sad to Zagreb breached some cultural fault lines between Croatia and Serbia. Not only did the content of the retrospective exhibition about Novi Sad neo-Avantgarde of the 70´s re-emerge in Zagreb, but also the original protagonists of the movement --the older generation of the Vojvodina artists travelled to Croatia for the occasion. The shift from Novi Sad to Zagreb was a significant moment through which the parameters of the social engagement inherent to the “dissident” artistic movement from the shared Yugoslav past was seen inside a completely transformed climate of the post-war nation states.
