The third ALMOSTREAL getogether was held on the 13th of June 2006 during the Alkantara international performance and dance festival in Lisbon. Participants were advisors to ALMOSTREAL: Kyong Park and Therese Kaufmann, and Alkantara festival director Mark de Putter and the ALMOSTREAL team. This one-day gathering considered some possibilities for further continuing ALMOSTREAL stage 3 in Lisbon in 2007. Mark encouraged the ALMOSTREAL team to play an active role in conceptualising the orientation and development of self-organised workshop that draws new links from the practice and which combines different disciplinary methodologies between artists from diverse cultural backgrounds. Other issues broached and advisory feedback ranged from how the project is communicated and represented to how ALMOSTREAL can be further developed as an experimental funding system which opens a new perspective between the funding ‘establishment’ and independent cultural figures and alternative forms of culture. Further discussed was how ALMOSTREAL and its web platform can best collect and share knowledge which can enable both the cultural institution and independent cultural figures to learn from each other.
