SKOR (Stichting Kunst en Openbare Ruimte, which translates as 'Foundation for Art and Public Space') is a Dutch organisation which develops art projects in relation to public spaces throughout the Netherlands. SKOR guides and advises organisations that wish to realise art in a public location, and provides financial support where necessary. Especially given that an increasing numbers of artists are claiming physical and virtual public space as a central sphere in their artistic practice.
The notion of public space is a concept that encompasses spatial planning and the layout of the urban space and landscape. Television and the internet are also considered forms of public domain.
SKOR focuses on the interactions between art, sponsor, location, and the public, and in so doing establishes connections with developments in new media, architecture, urban development, and landscape architecture.
The foundation is subsidised by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Cultural Affairs, and Science (OCW).
