The Gatherings, a 3 day public event inaugurated Be[com]ing Dutch, a 2 year project by Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven on how artistic practice and institutions could address the challenge of living together at a time of (im)migration, globalisation and cultural change. Be[com]ing Dutch seeks to put our ideas of national identity under pressure and to examine and challenge the process of inclusion and exclusion in the Netherlands today.
Between 26-28th January 2007, various artists, creative thinkers and people working in the cultural sphere came together to publicly present, debate and discuss ideas and models of art practice that pose new imagined possibilities for collective self organisation and understandings of identity. ECF arts officer Igor Dobricic also took part in the opening debate and discussions to talk about ALMOSTREAL as an inventive model of supporting art practice.
