'It will be what we make it' is a 21-day research for artists, theoreticians and programmers of various geographic, cultural and disciplinary backgrounds to build a temporary platform to individually and collectively learn and share, develop and experiment with methodologies of working in the performing arts. From 12 November till 2 December 2007, Alkantara and ALMOSTREAL co-develop the project “it will be what we make it | será o que fizermos” in Lisbon, Portugal.
The workshop will involve the participation of 11 artists, theoreticians and programmers of different geographic, cultural and disciplinary backgrounds to come together and create a temporary platform for researching new possibilities of performance production and presentational formats. The workshop does not impose a ‘programme’ nor that the participants ought to 'collaborate' instead each participant is encouraged to actively experiment, share and learn about other methodologies, with the potential of working and presenting work with others.
The emphasis of ‘it will be what we make it’ is not about making a product but about enabling new practices of production in a shared space and time - it is intended as an intensive possibility to exchange meanings, perceptions, techniques, and unexpected side-effects of processes of working together for 21 days.
the future is uncertain because it will be what we make it
