ALBA (Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts or University of Balamand), the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts was founded in 1937 as the first national institution for higher education. Since 1959, ALBA was inaugurated as the acandemy for Fine Arts. ALBA is mulit-disciplinary and is comprised of the following departments: Architecture, Plastic Arts, Decorative Arts, Cinema and Audiovisual Production, and the Insitute of Urbanism.
ALBA has worked together with Tarek Atoui to host the Bytes & Pieces series of workshops aimed at computer engineering and art students in Beirut as part of AlmostReal stage 2.

Rima Kadissi was born in 1978. She studied theatre directing at the Holy Spirit University in Kaslin (USEK) Lebanon, and perfrming arts at DasArts in Amsterdam. She has worked in performance, vide and sound installation. Her installations include Lets Pretend that the Plastic Body Bleeds (2005) and Unfinished Shower (2004).
