The process of commissioning an artwork, an event or project from an artist or an art organisation. Commissioning is the one support type of ALMOSTREAL which comes closest to the usual practice of grant giving. As with other art commissioners, ALMOSTREAL puts forward a particular set of guidelines (thematic, contextual, organisational) for an individual or organization produce an artwork, event, or activity. The guidelines for the commission however should not dictate the content or prescribe the creative process but rather evolve from communication with the individual or organisations who have been assigned the commission. Payment is made as a one-off grant according to a contracted agreement with the artist, approved project proposal and submitted budget.
