What is a ‘getogether’?
A getogether is a regular informal gathering that provides an occasion for in-depth discussion between a group of individuals involved in the different stages of ALMOSTREAL: from advisors to supported practitioners to the ALMOSTREAL team and European Cultural Foundation staff.
The questions posed during a getogether concern the conceptual and practical progress of ALMOSTREAL as an arts funding project and it’s eventual influence on the art funding strategies of the European Cultural Foundation and, hopefully, the discourse of cultural funding in Europe.
Questions posited during the ALMOSTREAL getogethers include:
What kind of collaborations in contemporary art in different regions in Europe can the ECF look at and learn from?
As a cultural funder and networker, what responses does ALMOSTREAL and the ECF have to the risks and challenges posed by contemporary art production in Europe today?
How to broach the alleged schism between the funded and the funder so that both the funder and funded may benefit from sharing one another’s knowledges, perspectives, networks and expertise?
In light of these questions, ALMOSTREAL aims that each getogether becomes a hypothetical space where experiences, new ideas and various positions on these questions from both the funder and the funded are examined and where a lively exchange of views takes place that could improve, influence and potentially change the way transcultural collaboration in European art production are stimulated and supported now and in the future.
