Artists Jeanne van Heeswijk of the Blue House and architect Dennis Kaspori of the Maze Corporation were invited to author an editorial contribution for issue 12 of SKOR’s bi-annual journal on art and the public domain ‘OPEN’. Jeanne and Dennis’ contribution became the departure point for stage 4 on hospitality. As editorial ‘guests’, Jeanne and Dennis bundled together a wide range of texts that reflect on the inhospitable lack of public sphere in contemporary society. Their contribution ‘Guest≠welcome’ shows how different cultural practices have made events, mobile interventions and temporary moments to create new possibilities and realities of public hospitality. Interestingly however, Jeanne and Dennis’ contribution as ‘guest’ editors was almost unwelcomed when their final contribution grew beyond the size of the contribution envisioned by SKOR.
