Collaboration

by Wietske Maas

Collaborations are ways of working together around like-minded concerns that can be structured and motivated on many different levels.

The motivation for collaboration could be purely for reasons of practical advantage such as sharing technical resources. Collaboration could also be shaped by a shared desire for creating a more influential impact in society and getting together around a shared set of concerns that ends up producing alternative knowledges.

Rather than analysing and evaluating resulting artworks, ALMOSTweb focuses on methodologies of collaboration and attempts to formulate what collaboration could mean in contemporary art practice. Moreover, ALMOSTweb looks into collaboration not only between different artists, but also between the artists and the funder and how collaborative processes could create a more powerful force in society, a force that affects political processes.

"Collaboration" was published on December 31st, 2007 and is listed in Editorial Annotation.
