'Artists in Dialogue, Transforming Communities' is a Res Artis General Meeting-conference hosted by Trans Artists and organised by Res Artis in the SMART project space, Amsterdam. October 9 - 11, 2008.
The program featured exemplary projects developed by smaller grass roots organisations linked to social, cultural and political contexts. Such initiatives have built unique structures for producing and showing contemporary art on a small scale, creating wide networks of similar artists’ initiatives.
As part of the conference, Igor Dobricic presented AlmostReal to show how this project has been supporting collaborations and mobility between an international network of artists and organisations, and how specific socio-geo-political contexts demand different forms of support. Igor also told about how these changing dynamics of the project is coming together as an archive-in-progress on AlmostWeb: an archive of the conditions and realities at play between artistic practice in different parts of Europe.
Two other ECF initiatives Rhiz.eu and Labforculture.org were also presented to discuss the relation between virtual cultural platforms and on-the ground realities.
